Chelsea 0 Man United 1

  1. A pretty poor game decided by one moment of magic. Coming into this as a United fan I didn’t have much confidence after Monday night against Leeds along with having 1 fit centre-back who’s a teenager so I’m delighted to get out of Stamford Bridge with 3 points. The first half was pretty even with Chelsea having the better of the chances as Estevao hit the post before going off with a hamstring injury, Enzo Fernandez also missed a great chance going just wide from inside the box as United were lucky to still be level before half-time. Then just before the half ended Mbuemo played the ball down the line to Fernandes who shrugged off Garnacho and hit a low cross into the box finding Matheus Cunha who fired home first time to give United the lead on the stroke of half-time. Chelsea came out the second half much better and put the pressure on the United backline as Delap hit the bar from Neto’s cross in the 56th minute, then ten minutes later Chelsea hit the bar again from the exact same scenario as Neto crossed the ball to Fofana who hit the bar the exact same way as Delap just minutes before. Caicedo went close with a long shot ten minutes before the end of the game but United were able to hold on to collect a crucial three points at the Bridge whilst not being anywhere near their best.

  2. A show of character from the United team after Monday night. I was fearing the worst for this game as Chelsea had the opportunity to close the gap to four points but one moment of brilliance between Fernandes and Cunha got the job done, Bruno Fernandes picks up yet another assist in his quest for the Premier League record which takes him up to 18 with five games left to get three assists which would break the record. I’ve been critical of Matheus Cunha at times this season and whilst I don’t think he was brilliant today he took the goal superbly when United really needed it before half-time, the other attackers had quite poor games as Sesko and Mbeumo really struggled to get into the game with the Cameroonian yet again putting in a poor performance in what’s fast becoming a year to forget so far in 2026 for someone who has so much quality, I’m not sure what’s going on with him but I hope he can pick it up and finish the season strong over the next month.

  3. Do Chelsea have one of the worst attacks in the league at the minute? You’d think I’m exaggerating but honestly that Chelsea attack after Estevao went off wouldn’t look out of place in the Championship, Delap actually had a decent game but he just never looks like scoring even against a partnership of Heaven and Mazraoui but he was unlucky to hit the bar from a great header. Alejandro Garancho put in probably the worst performance I’ve seen from a winger this season as Dalot completely pocketed him all night in what was probably the easiest game the Portugese will have all year, I seen this performance from Garnacho so many times and he’s so frustrating to watch try and beat his man with absolutely no ability whatsoever. Pedro Neto put in a couple of great crosses but other than that was quiet for the game as Chelsea failed to score for the fourth Premier League game in a row which doesn’t even sound like a real stat, Cole Palmer yet again flattered to deceive which must be so disappointing for Chelsea fans who called him world-class after one season, obviously he’s a top player but his lack of consistency this season has been one of Chelsea’s main problems. Are Chelsea even gonna finish in the European spots this season? I’m not so sure anymore.

  4. United’s youngsters step up when they’re needed. All of United’s backline had pretty good games but I need to give a big shout out to Ayden Heaven who’s barely kicked a ball all season and comes in alongside a fullback filling in at centre-back and puts in a great performance at Stamford Bridge, Heaven has all the makings of a top centre back for the future and one of my favourite aspects of his game is how comfortable he is on the ball allowing United to bypass Chelsea’s press a number of times today. I wonder if he was brought in for Yoro’s transfer fee if he would be playing more than the Frenchman? The other player that really impressed me today was Kobbie Mainoo, if you’ve been reading my United reviews so far this season you’ll know how big a fan I am of Mainoo and yet again he showed how important he is in this United team, his absence on Monday was huge with Ugarte filling in and doing a terrible job but Kobbie just knows when to slow the game down and when to quicken it up depending on what United need. That type of a player is priceless and it will disgust me forever that he was about to leave in January under the hideous dictatorship of Ruben Amorim who didn’t start him once in the league this season, I’ll always be grateful that I sided with Mainoo when many others turned against him over the last year and a half. Hopefully that new contract is just around the corner for Mainoo has such a bright future ahead at Old Trafford.

  5. Champions League football all but confirmed for United now. This result takes United ten points clear of Chelsea who are now looking behind instead of in front for the rest of the season, they are now level on points with Brentford and Bournemouth whilst Brighton are one point behind them with that game between the two taking place on Tuesday at the AMEX. For United they remain in third place and next up take on Brentford at Old Trafford in yet another Monday night football match, I’m sick of playing on Monday nights but I suppose that’s what you get when don’t have any other competitions to worry about all season. A win against Brentford basically confirms that United will finish in the top 5 but that game has all types of bad vibes on it taking place on Monday, I don’t know what it is but I just can’t be confident after the other games we’ve played on a Monday night like the games against Leeds, Bournemouth, Everton etc which all had shenanigans happen one way or the other. The game at the AMEX on Tuesday between Chelsea and Brighton might just determine the fate of both teams as a win for Brighton propels into contention for Champions League football next season, Chelsea simply cannot afford to lose another game in what’s fast becoming a horrifying season for everyone involved with that club. Stay tuned for the games coming up tomorrow in the Premier League, a title-decider awaits at the Etihad. ‍
